The winning innovations
Beehive Data Technology Taiwan, Village Link Myanmar and AELOI Nepal are the three Grand Champions. What are their innovations?
COVID 19 has disrupted lives and living. The world as we knew it may not exist anymore. The measures taken to contain the spread of the virus have put stress on the functioning of agricultural value chains and entire food systems, endangering food security.
Can ICT solutions contribute to enhance the resilience of agricultural value chains and markets in a post-Covid era?
This call challenges private sector, academia and development organisations to come up with concrete and practical examples on how ICT solutions can support the development of resilient post-Covid agricultural value chains/market systems that are fairer and more inclusive.
The ASIA AGRI-TECH CHALLENGE powered by the VCB-N wants to trigger innovation in the use of ICT along the value chains and provide successful innovations in their prototyping / testing phase a platform to showcase their products. The challenge functions at the same time as a matchmaking event between developers and providers of innovative ICT solutions and chain actors or supporters looking for ways to improve the chain functioning and making it more resilient and future-proof.
DIGITAL MARKETING INNOVATIONS
Digital solutions for transparent, efficient and inclusive marketing of agricultural products.
DIGITAL INNOVATIONS FOR VALUE CHAIN ADVISORY SERVICES

DIGITAL INNOVATIONS FOR FINANCIAL & OTHER SUPPLY CHAIN SERVICES

**Intellectual Property Rights of submitted innovations remain under ownership of the submitting parties, further use of the applications can be part of a matchmaking process between developers and other parties that can be facilitated after the challenge.
In all 3 categories of the Challenge the presented ICT innovations are judged against the following criteria:
• Level of innovation / uniqueness;
• Level to which it fosters resilience and sustainability;
• Level to which it improves chain governance, transparency / fairness and inclusiveness (pro-poor impact);
• Feasibility of proposed business model and level to which it does bridge “the last mile”;
• Potential for scaling up.
Eligible innovation using IT based solutions can address all parts of the value chain / market system from input supply, production management to consumer marketing. Preferably, the proposed approach covers for an overall (holistic) chain solution. Ideally, the innovations are beyond ideation phase and in their proto-typing or testing phase (beyond Ideation but not yet in full implementation).
Open for everyone.
Contestants provide a 2-page concept note describing the innovation, its development stage, result / impact, sustainability and social inclusion, business model and scaling strategy.
Max 5 contestants selected from each category (15 in total) provide two products including:
A short video presenting the innovation & its use/expected results (5 minutes);
A 30 seconds social-media video pitch of the innovation to be shown at the Challenge Website.
The selected contestants provide a live pitch of 3 minutes to the Judges.
Besides the judging by the dedicated judges, the results of the popular voting for the short (30 seconds) pitches will be taken into account in the final selection of award Winners. The special audience award decided by popular vote will be announced separately.
